WOW!!  Have we had a busy, fun couple of weeks!!
Mr. Macklin came to our 4th grade classes for an hour every day last week!  He taught us about the dangers of tobacco and alcohol!  He showed us two real pieces of lung!  One was healthy, and the other was diseased!  Tobacco had done it's toll on the diseased lung!
Diseased Lung!  Caused from smoking!
Getting an up close look at the healthy and diseased lungs.
Mr. Macklin up front and close!

Which lungs would you rather have?
Healthy lung!!
During Language Arts, we pantomimed a battle between the Byzantine Soldiers and the Muslim Soldiers!  Byzantines were on horse back, while Muslims were on the ground!

The 4th grade classes were in charge of the M.L.K. program!  It was very well done!!  Beautiful singers have we!!  We may all look different on the outside, but each of us look the same on the inside!
"Let There Be Peace On Earth, and Let It Begin With Me!"

Just because we look different on the outside doesn't mean we're a bad egg!!  We all taste the same!

What about Martin,  What about caring, what about peace, All around the world.
He loved everybody, black or white, He taught us to stand, for what was right.  He spoke about justice, And stood against wrong, As brothers and sisters, We can all be strong!!

Brown Eyes, black eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, They all came to America!

Brown hair, black hair, braided down the back hair. many different kinds of people. Red hair, blonde hair, frizzy, straight or long hair, searching for a land that's peaceful!

"I have a dream today....that one day..little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and little white girls as sisters and brothers.  I have a dream today."
Today, Mrs. Ekker, Madelyn's Mother, provided a great opportunity for us!!  She invited a famous  puppeteer and sculptor, Jesse Mooney-Bullock, to show us about puppets.  He demonstrated some of his puppets and gave us a puppet show.  It was fantastic!!  Thank you Mrs. Ekker!!

A wooden Baboon, that doesn't know he is in fact, a puppet!!
Jesse makes all of his puppets by hand.
Most are sculpted out of wood!
The baboon's voice comes from Jesse!
