Hello Everyone!!

Our class is divided into the 5 tribes of Utah. This is our Navajo Chief, Lilly, in her authentic outfit.

Science:  Museum On The Move came to our class last week, and taught us about Fossils!!  It was a great learning experience!!   We are studying Rocks and Minerals.  We will grow some popcorn crystals!

Book Reports: Our next Book Report will be in the form of an Indian legend! Students will use the internet, books, or other resources to find an Indian legend.  They will print it out, then write a report on an Indian Tepee which I will provide!  This will tie in with our Social Studies Unit, The Five Indian Tribes of Utah.  It will be due Monday, November 23.

Language Arts:  We are still working on unit 2, of our Amplify Language Arts Program.  Learning about the Middle Ages has been quite interesting, for me, at least!!  We will start unit 3, towards the end of the week!  It will focus on Poetry!   We've very excited about this unit!!

Spelling:  We have taken one spelling test, in which most students did very well.  Our next spelling words are words with prefixes, and are as follows: Enclose, entrust, enjoy, ensure, nonfiction, nonissue, nonsense, nonstop, nonverbal, unable, unlikely, unrest, unsettle, unsuccessful, and unusual.

Math:  We just took our Chapter 3 Test, and most did very well!!  We had 14 get in the 80% range, and two pulled off 100%.  We are on Chapter 4 and will do 4.5 on Monday. Estimate Quotients Using Compatible Numbers. 4.6 Investigate Division and the Distributive Property Mid-Chapter Checkpoint,
4.7 Divide Using Repeated Subtraction. 4.8 Divide Using Partial Quotients.

Social Studies:  Indians Tribes of Utah!!  We are weaving belts and making Shrunkin' Apple Head "Indian Dolls!"  We are loving this fun unit!!!
November 12, our 4th grade classes will be going to The Frontier Homestead Museum! We will go by bus, then walk back to school!!  I need 3 parent helpers, that are willing to help teach some of the fun activities that we'll be doing there!!  If you are able to volunteer, please email, call, or send a not with your child letting me know!
